Professional Development Grants are monies, up to $500 per teacher, that ISAEF provides to allow our very hardworking teachers to further their careers, attend seminars and/or conferences that advance their teaching skills, or purchase equipment to facilitate learning needs. ISAEF works very hard to assist, via our generous and supportive contributors (either direct or via our fundraisers), our teachers so that they can help each and every student learn to their fullest abilities. Budgets are extremely tight for our school district and ISAEF knows that every teacher and parent are doing the very best they can with every dollar they have and ISAEF works very, very hard to step up to the plate and help in ways which are beneficial to all. Below are two testimonials from teachers who have received ISAEF grant funding and how those funds made a difference to the children of our community.
"I am the librarian at Incline Middle School and I have been working on my Library Science Degree. This is an expensive endeavor with the cost of the classes, books, and materials. Last year I applied for an ISAEF grant to help subsidize my expenses. ISAEF quickly granted me the money and I was able to pay for one the most expensive classes that I had been putting off due to the cost. After taking the cataloging class I was able to organize the library in an easy to follow manner for the students at IMS. Our students can now find books easily and I can thank ISAEF for allowing me to take the class in order to help our students.
ISAEF is a key resource to educators in our community. We do not make a lot of money and when we need to pay for classes or materials for our classroom we know ISAEF will come through for us in a timely manner."

"Everyone knows that teachers and schools are under increasing budget shortfall pressures. Yet, teachers must complete continuing educations requirements in order to receive recertification every five years. Thanks to ISAEF grants I was able to take a PBS Teacherline (online) class that would not only count toward my recertification, but benefit students as well. The class I took, "Teaching WebQuests for K-12" enabled me to create interesting and challenging learning vehicles for students. For my project in this class, I wrote a WebQuest ("Oratores, bellatores, laborares: The Three Orders of Medieval Soceity" - literally translated as those who pray, those who fight and those who work) that drew students into a deeper examination of the Middle Ages, which we study in 6th grade Social Studies. The material was researched on the internet and done in teams. I appreciate ISAEF for giving me the opportunity to create this unit!"

"I use the Accelerated Reading and Math programs daily in my classroom. I have a large classroom library that I've been collecting for years so that the students, during SSR time, can be reading a book that is on their level and also of interest to them as they get to choose it. The computerized questions are great because you can tell quickly what their comprehension levels are."
